Will Decker

29 year old Will Decker is returning for his 2nd year with the RailCats and his first full season as he was signed on June 7th of last season.

Looking at his last season stats with the RailCats he played in 26 games, had 66 At-Bats, He Scored 11 runs, 19 Hits, 6 Doubles, 1 Triple and drove in 6. He stole 3 bases being caught once. He walked 10 times while striking out 13 times. He slashed a .288/.388/.409 and An OPS of .797.

I know mostly last year Will was battling a hamstring injury that kept him out of the line up. He only played the in 10 games. He came in a lot to pinch run or hit. He was a solid depth piece to the lineup and when he was in the field he played very well. His best attribute is his speed and his ability to run the bases. I look forward to the 2024 season with Decker back. He brings a smile and a positive attitude to the club house and I hope to see him healthy and on the field more! WELCOME BACK WILL DECKER

JACOB BOCKELIE

Jacob Bockelie, 28 years old, is returning after spending the second half of the season with the RailCats, having been traded from the Winnipeg Goldeyes on July 31st for pitcher Matt Leon. This will be Bockelie’s 4th season in the American Association.

Last season with the RailCats he played 12 games, had 62 At-Bats, scored 3 runs had 11 hits, 3 doubles, 2 homeruns and 7 RBI’s. He walked 6 times and struck out 14. He line was .177/.268/.323 and had an OPS of .590

I think last year most of us fans kind of raised an eyebrow at this move as it seemed this was a change of scenery for Matt and Jacob. I think for Jacob he was never given the chance to show what he could really do as he is more of a .250 hitter and has decent power. I just think with 1st base being a position of strength for Gary, his opportunity was limited and slim. I don’t think this year will be any different and with a wild open DH spot that would be his chance to be in lineup every game. I also thing he will bring a veteran presence to the team which is never a bad thing. WELCOME BACK JACOB BOCKELIE!!
