RailCats Trade for INF Elvis Peralta

On March 11th, the RailCats traded infielder Elvios Peralta from Down East of the Frontier League for a player to be named later.

Elvis can play shortstop, second base, and center field. He bats left-handed and throws right. He is 5’9″, 189 lbs, and 28 years old. He is from New York.

In 2019, he was drafted by the Oakland Athletics in the 26th round of the 2019 Draft from Marshall University.

He played 3 years in college, 2 seasons with Crowder College and 1 season with Marshall. In his 3 seasons, he slashed a .366/.440/.609.

He played 3 seasons in the Minors from 2019 to 2022. He played Rookie Ball, High-A, Double-A, and Triple-A. In his 3 seasons, Elvis slashed a .234/.329/.320 with an OPS of .649.

After being released from Affiliated, he played the 2023 season in the Pioneer League with Rocky Mountain Vibes, and last season with the Tri-City ValleyCats of the Frontier League. In those 2 seasons, he slashed a .273/.355/.412 with an OPS of .766.

Last season with the Valley Cats, Peralta played in 71 games, had 224 at-bats, scored 34 runs, made 47 hits, 10 doubles, 1 triple, 6 home runs, 32 RBI, 8 stolen bases, was caught stealing 5 times, drew 29 walks, and struck out 61 times, slashing a .210/.301/.344 with an OPS of .645.

What Elvis could bring to the RailCats is another left-handed batter who has some speed that could be in the bottom of the order or could work his way up to a leadoff spot. He has the affiliated ball experience, which is something the league is moving toward.
