The Worst Season In RailCats History!

After the season, I thought to myself that there had to be some kind of positive to this season. And there was, but it was all off the field stuff, and maybe some unbelievable plays that happened on the field. The rest of it, you could probably burn the tape and the season.

I typically like to shy away from being all about the negatives when it comes to looking at any type of sports teams I watch and, in this case, cover. But after going through the stats and looking at the league in general, there is a whole lot of negative and not a lot of on-the-field positivity.

The RailCats finished the season 30-70. This was the worst season in the RailCats’ franchise history. That record was first set in their 2nd season as a team in 2004, which was 31-65 (.323). The next year, they would go on to win the Northern League.

The RailCats become the 4th team in American Association to reach 70 losses. That list is Texas Airhogs (’15, ’18, and ’19 seasons), Salina Stockade (’17), and Houston Apollos (’21). Now Salina and Houston were all travel teams, so the RailCats would be the 2nd team that weren’t a travel team to join the 70 loss list. (Thanks to AA Baseball Fan on X for putting that list together)

Here is how the RailCats ranked offensively against the rest of the league.
